is for people with physical disabilities who play without using a wheelchair. The International Para-Standing Tennis Association (IPSTA) is our global governing body.

The sport is supported by the ITF and national governing bodies, with over 500 players from over 45 different countries on 5 continents. Our goal is to be represented at Grand Slams and become a Paralympic sport.

2026 IPSTA World Championships to Take Place in Torino, Italy in June

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 24, LONDON – The International Para-Standing Tennis Association (IPSTA) announced today that Torino, Italy will host the 2026 IPSTA World Championships from June 18–21.

The prestigious event will bring together the world’s best Para-Standing Tennis players for four days of elite international competition, with approximately 100 players representing more than 30 countries competing across four classifications. The event will showcase the highest level of para-standing tennis, highlighting athletic excellence, resilience, and the continued global growth of the sport.

The tournament will be held at the Monviso Sporting Club, one of Torino’s premier tennis venues, known for its high-quality facilities and strong connection to international sport. Bionic People, in collaboration with IPSTA, will serve as the local organizing committee for the World Championships, which are being delivered with the support of the International Tennis Federation (ITF).

The IPSTA World Championships serve as the sport’s flagship global event, providing athletes with an opportunity to compete at the highest level while fostering international collaboration and visibility for para-standing tennis. The 2026 edition will continue IPSTA’s mission to grow participation, improve competitive pathways, and increase recognition for athletes with physical disabilities who play tennis without a wheelchair. IPSTA’s ultimate goal is to be represented at Grand Slams & Paralympic Games at the elite level, and to continue to grow the sport worldwide at the grassroots level.

Torino, a city with a strong sporting legacy and experience hosting major international events, offers an ideal setting for the championships. Beyond competition, the event is expected to promote community engagement, inclusion, and awareness of adaptive tennis throughout the region.

PST crowns 2025 World Champions

After an intense week of competition, IPSTA is proud to announce the 2025 World Champions.

In the Women’s PST1-4 tournament, Thalita Rodrigues (BRA) won her first world title in straight sets over Michele Windsor (AUS).

In the Mixed PST1 category, Alex Hunt (NZL) defended his title with a tense win over talented 16-year old Michael Beglan (IRE).

In Mixed PST2, Matthew Grover (GBR) dethroned Ivan Corretja (ESP), ending Corretja’s dominant run in the category with an extraordinary match tiebreak performance, coming back from 2-7 down to win 10-7.

In Mixed PST3-4, newcomer Gianfranco Scamarone (PER) produced a dominant performance, storming to his first title in straight sets over Jakob Mathiasen (DEN). Luke Missen (AUS) was also the top ranked PST4 player for the second straight year.

In Mixed PST1-2 Doubles, Alex Hunt (NZL) and Adam Hills (AUS) won their first world title as a team, flipping the script on defending champions Matthew Grover (GBR) and Ross Cudmore (GBR).

In Mixed PST3-4 Doubles, Gianfranco Scamarone (PER) and Eduardo Perez (CHL) defeated Shunsuke Kishi (JPN) and Yusuke Hatano (JPN) in a thrilling final set tiebreak at 14-12, saving multiple match points along the way.

ITF signs Memorandum of Understanding with IPSTA

The International Para-Standing Tennis Association (IPSTA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the International Tennis Federation (ITF), opening an exciting new chapter in our relationship with the global governing body of tennis. We look forward to working more closely with colleagues in the ITF, drawing on their expertise as IPSTA continues to drive the growth of Para-Standing Tennis.

2023 US Open Exhibition

Para-Standing Tennis is proud to have been featured in our first demonstration event at a Grand Slam, with athletes participating in a doubles exhibition in Arthur Ashe Stadium.
